Build a More Inclusive Community

Incorporate diversity and inclusion training into orientation for new faculty and staff

Through new-hire orientations and web-based resources, Dartmouth will ensure that all members of the community are aware of opportunities for involvement in enhancing the diversity and inclusivity and have clear guidelines for reporting incidents of bias

Accountability:

Issue:

Diversity and inclusivity topics are already part of new-employee orientations -- representatives from the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity present at each session. But coverage is less than comprehensive and the existing program would benefit from reevaluation.

Progress/Status:

As of September 15, 2016, the Office of Human Resources has piloted two modules of a new-employee orientation with a renewed focus on inclusivity. Two more modules will be piloted by the end of September. Initial feedback on the first two pilots indicated that some reworking is needed, so this program will be revised during the fall term before it is implemented for all new employees.
