Increase Staff Diversity

Provide diversity advocates to assist with all senior staff search committees

Training diversity advocates to assist with senior staff searches will extend the reach of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity, and ensure that each search committee has a trained member to help the committee in its work.

Issue: 

Senior staff have a far-reaching impact both in terms of the work they do and the examples they set. Therefore, it is imperative that these hires result from the most inclusive and bias-neutral processes possible. 

Progress/Status: 

By December 2016, the Human Resources Talent Acquisition team -- which includes four staff members -- will complete diversity-specific recruitment training to learn the skills necessary to be diversity advocates. This will more than double the number of trained diversity advocates  available to assist with senior searches. 

Outcome: 

The HR talent acquisition team completed in December 2016 training to attain the skills of trained advocates for diversity recruitment.
