Progress/Status:

In response to the 2017 External Review Committee report recommendations, Dartmouth's Office of the Provost, in consultation with the school deans, undertook a reassessment of the time it would take to achieve the goal of 25 percent underrepresented tenured and tenure track faculty. Drawing on current graduate school enrollments and diversity reports of the profession, it was determined that it may take as long as until 2027 to reach the goal. President Hanlon determined that it was better to extend our timeline for achieving our goal, rather than lower the goal itself.

As of the November 2018 census, the percentage of tenured and tenure track faculty from underrepresented groups was 19%, up from 16% in 2016. This puts us on track to achieve our goal before the new, extended deadline of 2027.
